Vallakottai Murugar Temple - வல்லகோட்டை முருகர் கோவில்

This is the place near Sriperambadur which is close to chennai by 40 Kms.

This is termed as one of the old Murugar temple in Southern India. This temple is almost 1200 years old and constructed by King Bagiradha who ruled the kingdom on Ilanji.

Narada Maharishi once visited to meet King Bagiradha, however Narada was upset with the way King Bagiradha greeted and respected him, hence Narada Maharishi cursed him and left. While he was moving, Koran a demon met Narada Maharishi and got his blessings, Narada Maharishi asked Koran to beat King Bagiratha to get his wishes. As requested, Asura Koran fought the battle and won the king, who lost everything he had and came to jungle.
Again, at this time, King met Narada Maharishi and requested him to forgive him for his wrong doing, Narada Maharishi requested him to meet Dhurvasar Munivar, and Munivar advised King to have Vrata on fridays and workship Lord Murugar with Valli and Deivayanai.

Upon Lord's blessing, King regained everything that he lost and he built this temple for Lord Murugar.

Lord Murugar here blesses the devotees with Valli and Deivayanai and it is termed to be the tallest Murugar statue in tamilnadu with 7 feet.

Arunagirinathar workshipped Murugar here and wrote songs on this temple

The temple tank is believed to be created by Lord Indira through his vajrayutham to workship lord Murugar.

Blessings of Murugar here will re-instate everything that we had lost.
